Two Stuart locals will be taking part in a special event at the Stuart Public Library.

Author Alison Van De Pol and illustrator Jill Woodward collaborated on the first book that either of them worked on, called “The Moon is my Favorite Color.” Woodward shares how the two came together to produce the book.

“So, Alison and I have many connections over the years. We both grew up in Stuart, and then we both went to Buena Vista College, and then we both moved to Dallas Center somewhat recently. We almost moved there close to the same time, but we didn’t really know each other. Like, I knew of her family and I knew of her, but we didn’t know each other. And then when we became neighbors in Dallas Center, she told me about this book idea.”

Van De Pol says that she got the idea for the book from something her daughter said, and after a few days of thinking about it had to get it written out. Once she was finished, she went to Woodward and asked if she would be interested in illustrating it, and the rest is history. The two will be doing a book reading and signing at the Stuart Public Library on December 16th from 10am to noon.
