The Class 1A Glidden-Ralston basketball teams swept a girl/boy basketball doubheleader in Jefferson vs. Greene County on Thursday night, keeping the Rams winless on the season. G-R improved to 3-2 with a 42-26 win over the 0-6 Greene County girls, and the sweep was completed with a G-R win 41-40 in the boys’ game. G-R is 3-2 while the Rams fell to 0-5. Both games were broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

Senior Tiela Janssen scored a game high 23 points to lead the G-R girls while junior Emma Shipley led the Rams with 14 points. The Rams scored the first five points, but shortly thereafter the Wildcats took the lead and never gave it back. The final margin was the largest of the game.

The Rams cut a seven point deficit at 41-34 to one point at 41-40 with 1:54 to play in the game. From that point forward, neither team scored. The Rams had numerous chances throughout the game to score from close in, but getting the shots to fall was difficult including two attempts from close range in the final five seconds. G-R had 11 points from Charles Schon, 10 by Jonathan Bergmeier and nine for Colby Wallace. The Wildcats made seven three-pointers to only three for the Rams. Greene County had 10 points by Gabe Ebersole, nine for Brynley Ruzicka, and eight from Nathan Behne.
