A reminder that tomorrow is going to be the Market Beef Weigh-In in Jefferson.

Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says any Greene County 4-H and FFA’er that is planning on showing market beef at the 2024 Greene County Fair or the Iowa State Fair needs to come tomorrow from 1-4pm at the Beef Pen of Three Barn on the Greene County Fairgrounds. Hardaway talks about the number of head that will be weighed on Sunday.

“If definitely varies from year to year as some years we have more out of county kiddos come (and) some years, like I know there’s a show going on in Missouri this weekend that we’re losing a lot of kiddos to, so we’ll lose from heads going across the scale but I would estimate anywhere from 70 to 100 head go across the scale on Sunday.”  

Hardaway adds if a 4-H or FFA’er misses tomorrow’s weigh-in, they need to find another one before February 1st in order to be eligible to show at the county or state fairs.
