The Greene County High School Student Council has a couple of events coming up this week.

Sophomore and student council member Becca Anderson says they are currently hosting a winter clothing drive.

“We’re collecting any winter gear that can be given to the students at the middle school and the elementary. And then if we have more we are going to give it to the community. We’re thinking, ‘Go big or go home,’ so we’re shooting for 500 (items).”

Junior and student council member Ella Shipley says there are a couple of opportunities for the community to get involved this week, and also bring in a non-perishable food item as well.

“So on the 12th and the 15th, we have two home varsity basketball games and we’re going to be collecting donations and we’re looking into, if you bring a donation you can get a free popcorn.”

The student council is also partnering with Raccoon Valley Radio for this endeavor and non-perishable food items will also be accepted during tomorrow’s Caring Christmas Food Drive from 9-11am at the high school.
