A reminder that today Dallas County Conservation will be busy with an important activity.

Dallas County Conservation Outreach Coordinator Sarah McKeever says it is the Dallas County Christmas Bird Count happening at several locations today. She points out that the people that have signed up can get help with experienced birders and conservation staff that are on hand today.

“We do need some knowledge of species identification. If you are a beginning birder and you know some of the main species we have here in Dallas County, we can work with that and go over some of those tricker identifications by talking with one of our naturalists.”      

McKeever adds the information that is collected today will be sent to the National Audubon Society, as they monitor the long-term health of the bird population across the country and beyond.
