The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department is continuing a holiday tradition to attract more people to the Greene County Community Center, while also supporting a worthy cause.

JPRD Assistant Director Nathan Kral says the Day Pass Special is from December 16th-23rd and where anyone can use the community center for free for the day if they bring in at least two non-perishable food items to be donated to the local food pantry, the Greene County Action Resource Center. He points out this has been a successful venture in the past.

“So if you’ve got a family of five, let’s say you could bring in two non-perishable food items per person, so that’ll equal ten. So bring in ten non-perishable food items and your family of five would get in for free that day.”

Kral adds two non-perishable food items is the minimum but he encourages more to be donated to the food pantry.
