Dallas Center – Grimes boys and girls basketball have both been putting together great seasons so far, and that continued on Friday and Saturday with the girls getting wins over Oskaloosa 49-32 and Cedar Rapids – Xavier 42-41 with the boys winning over Oskaloosa 72-47. DCG girls are 8-0 on the year and the boys are 5-0.
DCG girls were able to find great defense in both of their wins, and found big serges in both games that were key to the wins. Kayla Reis and Vanessa Bickford both had 10 points in their win Friday, as they were able to hold the Indians to 38% shooting and 28 turnovers. In their game Saturday, DCG trailed by 11 after three quarters of play, but they were able to launch a furious 4th quarter comeback and pull off the thrilling win. Bickford was able to put up 13 points, and Josie Lampe was able to chip in with 9 points and 7 rebounds.
The boys were able to find three in double figure scoring with Jonathan Howard with 18 points, Jackson Green 15 points, and Calix Cahill 12 points. Howard also had seven assists. Brogan Fuller came off the bench for a very good game with six points, seven rebounds, three assists, and four blocks.
DCG will be having a pair of major games this week with them being at Johnston on Tuesday and then at home against Norwalk on Thursday. Both games will be streamed on the KDLS2 app.
