About 100 households in Dallas County received a bundle of food for the holiday season.

Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante says the Dallas County Sheriff Benevolent Association helped to organize 200 boxes of food for 100 households that are “food dependent” during this time of year. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio each year corporations and other businesses donate the food and they help to package it for the families at the sheriff’s office. Infante points out their families and loved ones help to load up the boxes the night before they are distributed.

“The very next morning all of the fire departments from these various communities come and help us and deliver these food boxes because we just don’t have the space. They come with trucks and they know where to bring these boxes, it’s awesome. The Shop with a Cop thing hits you for the kids, but this one hits you in just general what you’re doing for families in Dallas County. You can see the impact. It’s awesome.”

Sheriff Infante believes this is an important program due to several reasons including families having hardships, the rising cost of heat in the winter time, school kids being home during winter break, among others. He appreciates the food donations, the volunteers to help organize the boxes and those that help deliver the food boxes.
