A Minburn man is accused of fraudulently stealing money.
According to court documents, on October 13th, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the victim that 46-year-old Jason Spence had said he took the victim’s truck to get an injector replaced and it would cost $3,500 and that there was a verbal agreement for Spence to purchase the truck. Spence told the victim the repair could be reimbursed as part of him buying the vehicle. The suspect also told the victim that the repairs were done by a business in Dallas Center. The victim paid Spence the $3,500 for the repairs Spence claimed he paid.
Court documents show that Spence said the truck wasn’t operational due to mechanical issues and he could no longer buy it from the victim, due to other expenses. When the victim regained possession of this truck, it was discovered that no actual repairs were made. When the victim contacted the business, the victim was told that Spence refused to get the vehicle repaired and asked for a ballpark estimate of what it may have cost for the repair.
Spence was charged with a Class D Felony for second degree theft. A warrant was issued on December 19th and Spence was arrested this past Thursday. He was booked into the Dallas County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
