It might not have been a white Christmas for the Raccoon Valley Radio area this year, but much needed rainfall did happen.
According to the Iowa State University Iowa Environmental Mesonet between this past Sunday and Monday, Perry received 1.5 inches of rainfall, Guthrie Center was slightly under that total with 1.48 inches and Jefferson recorded 1.38 inches. With just a brief shot of rainfall, all three counties are now above their normal December monthly totals of around one inch of precipitation.
However, with the added rainfall now comes colder temperatures for the rest of the year. According to the National Weather Service, daytime highs hover around the mid to upper 30 degrees with overnight lows in the 20s, and no precipitation is expected.
