The December portion of the girls’ basketball schedule for the Greene County Rams saw Coach Tori Ogden’s team go 0-11, but they reached a scoring high in the 2-1/2 seasons she’s been the head coach. The Rams lost 68-49 on Dec. 19 in Des Moines to Saydel, scoring 24 points above their average entering the contest. Even though it was a loss, the scoring was a positive.
Playing 11 games in 29 days to begin the season presented some challenges, but now the Rams have six weeks to get the final 10 regular seasons games in. Coach Ogden expects the less frenetic pace of games to allow for more practice time as the Rams try to reduce turnovers and increase their points per game.
The season resumes on Friday, Jan. 5 in Jefferson vs. Perry in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader. Both games can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 5:45 p.m. The girls play at 6 o’clock with the boys to follow.
