While winter hasn’t exactly acted like itself this year, there are still chances that it will in the coming months, and people need to be prepared.
Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says that with winter weather, travel plans can change quickly, and roads can become unsafe in a short matter of time. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio a few things people should make sure to have in their cars.
“Make sure you have jumper cables in your vehicle. Warm clothes, water, some food, you know, if you could. If you get stuck, you may be in the vehicle for a while.”
Arganbright mentions that if someone does end up in a ditch, they should assess what all has happened first. He adds if they are injured severely, or need medical attention, they should call 911, but if they just need help getting their vehicle out of the ditch, they should call the Guthrie County Sheriff’s department at their non-emergency number.
