Tomorrow is an important day for 4-H and FFA members in Guthrie County.

For those looking to show beef cattle at the Guthrie County and Iowa State Fair, beef weigh-ins are tomorrow morning from 9am until noon at the Guthrie Livestock Auction. This is a required step in the process of registering to show. Weighing will not begin until 9am, and animals will need to be unloaded on the east end of the auction barn.

Individuals will need to stay with their animals the entire time during the process, and will check out with Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Coordinator Meghan McBride. Ear ID tags will be available for purchase for $3, and if individuals would like to purchase retinal imaging for their animals, it will cost $5. Animals must be registered at 4HOnline.com by February 1st to be eligible for fairs. For those unable to attend the weigh in, contact McBride by email at mmcbride@iastate.edu, and she will help to get it set up for you to attend another county’s weigh-in at a different date.
