A statement has been released from the attorney for Jack and Erin Butler, the parents of the 17-year-old teen who was involved in the shooting this past Thursday at Perry High School.
According to the statement, the Butlers say when they dropped their son Dylan the morning of January 4th, they had no idea of the violence their son was about to inflict. They said Dylan was discussing his future plans and was ready to get back to school after Christmas vacation and start a new semester.
They are still trying to make sense of the senseless act Dylan made and they are trying to understand how this could have happened. The statement says that Perry is Jack and Erin’s home community, they would never wish for the harm and pain Dylan’s actions caused on anyone. The Butlers go on to say that they appreciate and cannot repay the grace that they’ve been shown both in public and in private. They continue to help authorities and provide answers to questions of why Dylan committed these senseless crimes. They hope that through God’s grace answers can be found and those answers can prevent other young people from harming others.
