The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
The meeting started with the Board approving to re-appoint John Muir as chair and Dawn Rudolph as vice chair for 2024. Then during reports, County Zoning and Environmental Administrator Chuck Wenthold told the Board that NationalGrid Renewables sold their solar panel project to Alliant Energy, which still needed approval by the Iowa Utilities Board.
The Board then heard an update from Jefferson City Administrator Scott Peterson. He said a new business next to the Sierra Community Theatre with Greg and Shirley Hacker called “Courtyard on State Street” and they have applied for a forgivable loan, Tim Heisterkamp has also applied for a facade grant for the new building he owns on the corner of East Lincoln Way and Chestnut Street for his business, “Journey Financial;” a new low-income housing project, south of Ace Hardware with JCG is planning at 40 unit apartment project. The Supervisors expressed concerns with all these housing projects and a huge increase in population putting a strain on the local police department and other assets.
The Board then approved the county recorder’s quarterly report of fees and the county auditor’s quarterly passport report as presented, a Class B retail alcohol license for Paton Pit Stop, an amendment to last week’s resolution to change the Christmas holiday closure on December 24th and 25th instead of the 25th and 26th, and the request for qualifications for the construction manager at risk for the county jail project was also approved.
