The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday morning.
The Board discussed with Zoning Administrator Chris Whitaker on an appeal he was requesting for a parcel of land, as he had missed that the parcel would need to be touching a hard surfaced road and wanted to waive that for the time being. The Board approved a motion to deny the appeal, as there had been a similar instance previously and they wanted to follow the precedent that had been set in that case.
The Board also heard from the 2024 Compensation Board on, and approved their recommendation for elected official salaries for the year. The suggestion was to increase those salaries by 7.25-percent, which is higher than the increase in cost of living, but an explanation was given. Compensation Board Members John Twillman and John Tews said that last year the Board recommended a smaller percentage than the increase in cost of living, and they wanted to catch back up to where things should be. They also explained that compared to the average salaries of elected county officials around the state, all of Guthrie County’s officials were below average.
The Board then approved the assignment of a county held tax sale certificate for a parcel of land, along with setting the 2024 mileage reimbursement rate by adopting the national rate.
