With the 2024 legislative session having started in Iowa, many legislators are working on drafting bills.
Iowa House Representative for District 23 Ray Sorensen says that he’s working on bills for the Economic Development and Technology he is the chair of. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what he’s doing to bring together a bill protecting elections from artificial intelligence.
“I’m trying to get some bills drafted and kind of written the way I want them to sound, and I am leaning on some other states that have stepped out there in that fray before me and seeing some of the things that I like in their bills and trying to craft something of my own here in Iowa. Something that will benefit us and maybe get us out ahead of any, I guess, naysayers or people that would do harm to our elections here in this state.”
Sorensen mentions that the reason he wants to get this bill in front of his peers, to help protect Iowa elections, making sure that they’re secure from outside interference.
