In the wake of the shooting at Perry High School, lots of people are trying to find ways to give support or do their part to help the community heal.

The Perry Chamber of Commerce is one organization where the director, Lynsi Pasutti, says their role in anything for the community is a connector. She says they gather information, find where to direct people and then publicize the correct information. Pasutti says since the school shooting, the Chamber has been getting and seeing lots of requests of what individuals, groups and families can do.

Pasutti explains another way the Chamber has helped is with connecting the dots by getting one organization hooked up with another for an idea, such as free movies with the hook up of the Optimist Club with the Perry Grand 3 Theaters.

“What are things that we can all work together, not duplicate efforts, not trip over each other, and come together to help. Because after that initial stun of events and that’s our initial response, I think there’s been an immediate response from the community of wanting to give back and help support.”

Pasutti says other examples of how the Chamber played a coordinating role is with the Perry Booster Club putting up blue ribbons across town or figuring out logistics and publicizing the community blood drives for LifeServe Blood Center.
