The Adel Public Library has events today (Thursday) that target teenagers and that include information about the Iowa Caucuses.
It’s election year and the state of Iowa plays a big role in that with the caucuses. The Adel Public Library will be holding a “Iowa History 101” program, explaining more about the precincts and what Iowa’s role will be in the selection process. The meeting will be held at 12pm, and there will be in-person attendance at the library or online on zoom. For those that show up at the library, there will be refreshments of tea or coffee. A little later in the afternoon, the library will be hosting a crafting of bullet journals, which is apart of a series named, “Teen Thursdays.” This program will be held at 4pm in the library and will allow teens to create a small pocket-style journal to either organize their thoughts, practice creative writing, among other things. Patrons Services Manager Amy Puck says the program was orchestrated in an effort to better connect with teenagers.
“We figured that teens would like to have some kind of a physical recording device and that crafting is also a good teen activity, and so we put it together and bullet journals is what came out.”
The event is free to attend and registration is not required. Snacks will be provided, but Puck emphasizes that supplies will be limited, although the library will do its best to accommodate.
