The recently concluded 2nd Annual Clash Meet in La Crosse proved to be a remarkable journey for the RRC Girls Wrestling Team, as they defied expectations and secured a resounding victory against some of the nation’s strongest teams. Coach James Biscoglia expressed his satisfaction, highlighting the team’s underdog status and the challenges they overcame to clinch success.

During the tournament, the announcer’s humorous acknowledgment of the team’s relatively unknown status set the stage for the surprising triumph. Despite being off the radar for many, the RRC girls showcased their talent and determination, earning praise from both spectators and opponents alike.“Really gratifying the announcer was kind of funny he was like we we don’t even know where you’re from cuz we’re not you know an actual single School, I told him where they were from but they were like yeah you weren’t even on a radar for this tournament by you had signed up but they weren’t thinking we were going to win it so a lot of credit goes to our girls.”

Coach Biscoglia reflected on the team’s composition, emphasizing the significance of having two undefeated wrestlers. In a competition where top teams boasted five undefeated participants, the RRC team’s consistency across weight classes played a pivotal role in their success. Winning two out of the six contested weight classes in each dual, the team strategically secured victories in crucial matches.

The journey to victory was no cakewalk, with the RRC girls facing six duals against formidable opponents. Remarkably, three of these teams were ranked in the top 40 nationally, with one securing a position in the top 20 and another in the top 10. Notably, two teams from Minnesota, ranked first and second, and a top-ranked team from Illinois stood in their way. Against all odds, the RRC girls emerged triumphant, showcasing their resilience and skill on the mat.“we had two undefeated wrestlers and most of the those top teams had like five and so that means that you know they had 13 weight classes up there there were six weight classes that were contested you know we would win two and they would win five and across the board and it was really tough to duals we won those six matches and that’s how we won the duel so we had a whole bunch of girls that were five and one so there was a level of consistency there.

Coach Biscoglia  acknowledged the level of competition the team faced and commended the girls for their outstanding performance. The achievement becomes even more commendable considering the tough matchups and the team’s ability to secure victories against nationally ranked opponents.

In summary, the RRC Girls Wrestling Team’s success at the 2nd Annual Clash Meet is a testament to their dedication, skill, and ability to overcome challenges. The victory against some of the nation’s strongest teams solidifies their presence in the wrestling scene and marks a proud moment for the RRC community. “ that’s pretty phenomenal we had six duals of those six duals three teams were ranked in the top 40 in the country one of them was in the top 20 and one was in the top 10 two teams were in from Minnesota were ranked one Minnesota and a team that was ranked two in Illinois and team that was ranked number one in Arizona somehow managed to pull up Victory against all of them so it was great.”
