A vehicle that was stuck in the snow from this past Friday’s winter storm led to the arrest of a Jefferson man.

According to court documents, a police officer responded to a vehicle that was stuck in the snow in the 1200 block of North Elm Street at 7:41pm. The driver, later identified as 47-year-old Timothy Williams, was refusing to talk as he went into a nearby business. An Iowa State Trooper assisted and the officer noticed that Williams had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and was unbalanced, along with the odor of alcohol on his breath.

Williams said he didn’t consume alcohol before operating the vehicle and he refused to do a field sobriety test and a breath test. Williams was then arrested and charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for an OWI. The officer additionally charged Williams with a serious misdemeanor for driving with a suspended/revoked license. Williams was booked into the Greene County Jail.
