It was an emotional night at Wells Fargo Arena as Perry basketball returned to the court for the first time since the incident on January 4th. Before the girls contest, there was a video message from the Iowa Hawkeyes Women’s team. Head coach Lisa Bluder and the three captains shared some words of encouragement.
Following the message from the Hawkeyes, there was 29 seconds of silence in remembrance of Dan Marburger. The significance of 29 has to do with the years Dan had been in service at Perry schools.
During the National Anthem both teams met at half court and formed a circle.

That wrapped up the pregame tributes.
In the boys contest, Saydel would let Perry win the tip. Levan would bring the ball into the front court, set it on the ground, and take a shot clock violation. This was used as another moment of silence. Saydel would respond with their own respectful turnover by taking a five second call on the inbound.
Perry would win the girls contest 51-36 and the boys fell 56-36.
