The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference holds its annual wrestling tournament on Friday at PCM High School in Monroe starting at 5 o’clock. Greene County returns HOIAC champions in junior Gavyn Winters (113), senior Gavin Scheuermann (157), and junior Brent Dennhardt (165). Roland-Story (Story City), West Marshall (State Center), PCM, and the Rams could be considered the top four teams based on dual meet performances and the number of highly rated wrestlers each team has. Saydel (Des Moines), South Hamilton (Jewel), Perry, and Nevada, round out the field and every conference team with the exception of SH has at least one wrestler with State Tournament experience.

The Rams are coached by Kirk Davis and the coach was able to fill 11 of the 14 weight classes on Tuesday night in Jefferson when his team went 3-0 in dual meets vs. Perry, Nevada, and Coon Rapids-Bayard. Filling weight classes go a long ways in scoring team points.
