As the current legislative session continues, legislators are now seeing bills outside of the major ones proposed that may have piqued their interest.
Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair says that there are a few bills that have been of interest to her, including a few that were brought to her attention by her constituents. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about one on camping in the inside lane of multi-lane highways.
“Just to explain, it’s driving slowly in the left lane. It causes real traffic flow problems and is a serious impediment to public safety. And so just finding a way to enforce what’s already required, that the left lane is supposed to be used for passing so that the flow of traffic isn’t impeded. So we’re talking about that. I’m not working specifically on that, but it was an issue that I had been alerted to by constituents that I brought to the transportation (committee) chair, and he’s moving forward with (it).”
Sinclair mentions another issue brought to her by constituents, which involves third party testing for those with disabilities taking driver’s education courses. She adds that this bill would help to make sure that those with disabilities would be able to take driving tests in vehicles that work best with their disability, and with instructors who they are comfortable with.
