Coming fresh off of a successful performance on Monday at the Iowa High School Music Association State Vocal Jazz Festival, Ram Jive is set to head to another competition on Saturday.
The Greene County High School Jazz Choir ensemble, Ram Jive, earned a Division I-rating at the state festival at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School on Monday and they will be traveling to North Polk High School on Saturday. Director David Heupel says at North Polk, they will be competing against other Class 3A entries to earn a placing, while the state contest was a competition against a rating system. Heupel talks about the history of going to the North Polk contest.
“We’ve been there a couple of times and I think we might have won our class once there several years ago. Personally, my daughters being in club volleyball in maybe in Kansas City or something like that has conflicted with it a lot over the years. We’ve competed there a couple of times, I’ve judged there a couple of times, and so we’re looking forward to getting back. Plus, it’s an hour away.”
Heupel adds Ram Jive performs at 9:40am on Saturday.
