The Jefferson Public Library is continuing its Author Talk Series with another local area published author.
Scott Irwin is a Bagley native and his book, “Back to the Futures” includes lots of personal anecdotes while explaining commodities, the basics operation of the commodity futures market, and the roles of hedgers and speculators within the system. The 1974 graduate of Yale-Jamaica-Bagley High School says the book took five years from start to finish, as he worked on it with his friend Doug Peterson.
Irwin is also the Laurence J. Norton Chair of Agricultural Marketing with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics. He has over 40,000 followers on social media, which the Jefferson Library says in the press release makes Irwin the most followed agricultural economist worldwide.
Irwin will be at the Author Talk and Book Signing at the Jefferson Community Golf Course Clubhouse at 3pm on Saturday. Following the program, Irwin will sign copies of his book and will have some for purchase as well.
