The high school girls’ basketball season is over for the Greene County Rams. Coach Tori Ogden’s team lost to Cherokee Washington in Cherokee on Saturday night in the opening round of Class 3A Region 7 Tournament play. The final was 75-29 and the Rams fell to 1-21 while the fourteenth ranked Braves move on with a 14-7 record. The contest was broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

Greene County was led in scoring by freshman Makenna Ebersole with 12 points including six points in the first half. Ebersole was the only Ram to score in the first 14 minutes of playing time. The Rams trailed 35-2 after one quarter and 49-10 at the half. The 35-point continuous clock rule was in effect the second half. The Braves began the game with full court pressure and the Rams turned the ball over 15 times in the opening stanza. The Cherokee coaching staff suited 15 players for the game and all 15 played in both halves with 11 getting on the scoreboard. Senior Harper Benson of the Braves led all scorers with 22 points. Benson made five of the Braves 10 three-pointers.

Grace Hardaway is the lone senior on the Greene County team, meaning the 2024-25 Rams could return a wealth of varsity experience.
