Greene County girls’ bowling was in Atlantic at Super Bowl on Monday for a Class 1A State qualifying meet. The teams rolled 15 Baker games with each of five bowlers rolling two frames. The Rams were second in the team competition to Shenandoah with 1,801 pins compared to 2,461 for the Mustangs. Only the first place team advances to State competition next week. Lenox was third at 1,789 with 1,741 for Creston, 1,550 from Lamoni, and 1,325 for Mt. Ayr.
Individually, each bowler rolled three games with the Rams being led by Graci Cooklin at 399 pins, good for eighth place. The top four series in 1A advance to State. Allison Fields totaled 369 pins with Ava Schilling at 356, 309 for Sophie Johansen, Shailynn Woodley 306, and 273 for Rozella Helms.
John Woodford is the coach of both the girls and boys teams. After traveling to Atlantic with the girls yesterday, Woodford and the boys go to Oskaloosa today for State Qualifying in Class 2A. Greene County and Carroll have a boys’ athletic sharing agreement, but the girls do not have a sharing agreement, thus the difference in classes for the postseason.
