Ribbon cutting in May of 2023 at Iowa Cover Crop

A Jefferson-based business was recently recognized by a state-elected official.

Iowa Cover Crop was the recipient of the Leader in Conservation by Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig. The Iowa Ag Leader Awards are for individuals and businesses or organizations that make exceptional contributions to agriculture, along with impacts to Iowa’s water quality and conservation.

Iowa Cover Crop was co-founded by Bill Frederick and James Holz in 2014. What started as a way to apply cover crops to diversify their family farms and neighbors farmlands has grown to include over 15 dealers in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Missouri. They also offer a wide range of different cover crops for farmers and crop producers.

The other recipient of the Leader in Conservation Award was Molly Haub with Premier Crop Systems. Naig honored Frederick, Holz and Haub at the annual Agribusiness Association of Iowa Showcase and Conference in Altoona.
