The Iowa High School Speech Association’s All-State Contest is coming up soon.
Saturday, teams who were invited to perform will travel to Ames to compete, including a radio broadcast team from Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center. The group consists of student athletes who compete together on a few different teams. Bo Arrasmith tells Raccoon Valley Radio about his part in the wild west outlaw performance.
“So I’m actually one of the main radio guys, and I’m the one that ends up robbing the bank at the end with my other partner, who is Carter. So that’s pretty fun because I get to be in most of the parts, and then we actually get to get arrested at the end.”
Noah Kading plays a character who runs a shooting competition, and Ashton Zekucia and Lance Bunde use accents to get into their characters, the commercial guy and sheriff respectively.
“Welcome to my saloon there, boys.”
“Hey there, boys.”
The performance is recorded by the students before hand, and is listened to by the judge(s), who then give their critique and score for it.
