Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School has three teams at the Iowa High School Speech Association All-State Large Group Festival today at Iowa State University.

ADM brought nine teams to the State Large Group Contest, which was held at Ankeny Centennial on February 3rd. Three of those entries have been nominated to participate at the All-State Festival today. The teams and acts that will be performing are Varsity Readers Theatre “The Cats in Krasinski Square,” Varsity Choral Reading’s “Tales of the Lunch Lady,” and Varsity Ensemble Acting’s “Dibs.” ADM Speech Coach Jacque Seidl clarifies the differences of All-State compared to the State competition.

“We want every group that is nominated for All-State to feel the honor that they deserve to be there. This isn’t ‘let’s go out and beat the other teams,’ but that we are all just there celebrating the amazing work across Iowa.”

Varsity Readers Theatre group are taking the stage at 10:40am. The Varsity Choral Reading group follows in the afternoon at approximately 3:26pm, according to Seidl, and the Varsity Ensemble Acting was nominated as a Non-Performing, with Seidl stating that the committee decided there wasn’t enough time to squeeze all the various ensembles together, but will still receive all the honors as the other groups.
