A reminder that today is the Iowa High School Speech Association All-State Large Group Festival and one group from Greene County will get to showcase their event.

Short Film with Nathan Ausberger, Jack Hansen, Gavin Vander Linden, Bill Wright and Daniel Strawn are performing their 90s sitcom parody where the character Steve, played by Hansen, breaks his brother Bruce’s solar system, played by Vander Linden. The rest of the short film is about how Steve goes about fixing the solar system before Bruce returns home. Hansen also qualified for All-State last year and he talks about what it means for him to go back again this year.

“There was definitely a lot more pressure going back. But I mean it feels really cool kind of knowing what All-State is because we also went into All-State blind last year, thinking it would be like a whole nother day of speech and it would’ve been long. But once we got there it was a really fun, so that just kind of added an extra sense of urgency to get (back) there. So overall just really proud of what we accomplished and everything that came to fruition.”

The IHSSA All-State Large Group Festival is at Iowa State University and Greene County will show its short film around 3:10pm in Scheman Room 4. Click here to watch the video.
