Greene County had four wrestlers compete last week at the State Wrestling Tournament inside Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines to end the season. Senior Gavin Scheuermann was the lone medal winner with a sixth place finish at 157 lbs. in Class 2A. He was his first two matches, then lost in the semifinals on Friday before falling twice on Saturday to finish the season with a 30-6 record. Scheuermann is just the fourth Ram to wrestle at a State Tournament all four years of high school.
State Tournament experience was gained by the other three Greene County qualifiers in juniors Gavin Winters at 120 lbs., Brent Dennhardt at 165 lbs., and freshman Degan Miller at 175. Dennhardt went 2-2, Miller 1-2, and Winters 0-2. Head coach Kirk Davis and his coaching staff will look forward to that trio and others in the wrestling room for the 2024-25 season.
