The new Dallas County Administration Building is in the process of being built, and the Dallas County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a tentative tour for next month.

The Board of Supervisors agreed that during their regular meeting on March 5th would be preliminarily when they will take a tour of the project. The Board plans to revisit the topic at the next couple of meetings to confirm that it is a good date for everyone. Other agenda items that were approved during the meeting was a project being worked on by the Iowa Department of Transportation regarding replacing a bridge on 190th Street in Perry. The Board approved the project with the recommendation by the DOT for a funding agreement to use the Highway Bridge Project Fund in the amount of $900,000.

There were some items that required more discussion without a decision being made. The first was in regards to the disposal of a county owned property in Adel to be used to provide additional room for County Attorney Jeannine Ritchie and Auditor Julia Helm. The second came in the budget workshop with the Board determining how to proceed with the mental health regions in Dallas County potentially combining with three other regions into one conglomerate. According to Board Chair Brad Golightly, counties could choose to opt out if they wanted, but the Board wanted to review the policy in terms of budgeting purposes and return to it next week in the workshop.
