The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office recently launched an application on smartphones to keep citizens informed.
The Sheriff’s Office is sharing information with the public about inmate situations, sex offenders, and making contact within the department easier. Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the January 4th shooting in Perry prompted further discussion about the ability to communicate with other officers.
“We can basically text every deputy in one message saying ‘hey, we need you in Perry right now,’ and I took it a step further, and I built a group so I could notify the deputy’s families.”
Infante adds that the app has push notifications to warn people of road closures, weather issues, or other safety concerns. He explains the app is in response to receiving calls from the public, and that people now have a place to resort to. To download the app, search for the “Dallas County Sheriff’s Office,” on either the Apple or Google Play Store.
