With the Iowa High School Speech Association District Individual Contest coming up Saturday, a few students from Paton-Churdan are going to compete.

P-C Speech Coach Nicole Freiss-Schilling says seven students are in five categories, including musical theater, prose, poetry, storytelling and improv. Three students are performing in two categories and those include Phoenix Hartman in prose and improv, Ella Tasler with storytelling and poetry, and Blaise Schilling in prose and poetry. Freiss-Schilling points out six of the seven students are freshmen, while Hartman is a sophomore. Check out the full list of students and what they are competing in below.

Musical theater: Anastasia Hobbs

Prose entries: Phoenix Hartman, Bridget Hobbs, Blaise Schilling

Poetry: Kaliyah Minnehan, Ella Tasler, Blaise Schilling
