Dallas Center – Grimes boys basketball had a game on Friday night in class 4A Substate 7 semifinal action in Grimes, taking on Council Bluffs – Abraham Lincoln in Grimes. DCG was able to dominate in the second half outscoring the visitors 39-16 and winning by the score of 72-45. DCG moves to 19-3 on the season while Lincoln concludes a very good year with a 16-7 record.
The Lincoln Lynx came out strong, as they were able to hit six team threes in the first quarter and led by six after one quarter. DCG settled in though, as they were able to up their game defensively holding Lincoln to only 25 points combined in the final three quarters. Offensively DCG was strong, shooting 55% from the field and 10/21 from three as a team. Four different players were in double figure scoring in Jackson Green with 19, Brogan Fuller with 16, Johnathan Howard with 13, and Calix Cahill was able to chip in with 11.
The Mustang boys are one game from making it back to the state tournament. They will face a top five team in 4A in Waukee Warriors, who have been one of the best teams in the state the past few years. The game is a rematch from a year ago where Waukee was able to win 49-38.
The game will be from Indianola High School at 7 pm tomorrow night. The game is part of a double dip of DCG hoops Tuesday, with the girls to play in the state tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines in a state quarterfinal matchup against the North Polk Comets. That game will be projected to begin at 1:30.
Both games will be on KDLS tomorrow and streaming online at raccoonvalleyradio.com. Both games will have pregame shows starting around 20 minutes before tip, as the Mustangs will look to find major success tomorrow.
