The track season is vastly approaching for Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, and Senior Makayla Crannell hints at how she helps prepare her younger teammates.
Crannell is gearing up to head into her final season with the ADM Tigers. She participates in the 100 meter, 200 meters, 400 meters, 4×100 meter relay, 4×200 meter relay, and long jump. Crannell has qualified for state during the 2020-21, and 2021-22 seasons. She won conference last year in the 100, 200, and 400 meters, was a runner-up in the 100 and 200 at state, while being apart of the 4×200 meter relay team that won state. Crannell describes her encouragement of teaching her younger teammates.
“I would just say its really encouraged me to be that support system for the younger girls too, and show them that they can improve, and even if they feel discouraged their first year, I want to like motivate them to keep trying and keep working hard because they can improve.”
In November, Crannell announced her decision to join the University of Northern Iowa to continue pursuing her track and field career. The first meet for ADM is the Dickinson Relays at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls this Tuesday, starting at 2pm. Hear the full thoughts from Makayla Crannell below.
