The high schools in Guthrie County saw their FFA Chapters compete at District Convention.
Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center had 24 students in nine different events, while Panorama had 12 students in four events, with both competing in Clarinda. West Central Valley sent nine students to McCombs Middle School in Des Moines to compete in three events.
AC/GC has one event that will be an alternate for state convention, and for Officer Books, the Treasurer’s Book will go to state, and the Reporter’s Book will be an alternate to state. There were also four members who were awarded the Academic Achievement Award, which is given to seniors who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
For Panorama, there were nine seniors awarded the Academic Achievement Award, with their events returning with one gold, one silver and two bronze ratings. The Chapter also had 8th grade and first year members take the Discovery Exam and Greenhand Exam respectively during the week before the District Convention.
West Central Valley will have one of their events advance to state convention, while the other two received a bronze rating, and a fourth place finish. The Chapter did have seniors receive the Academic Achievement Award, but those will be given to them at their Chapter Banquet. A list of full results for all three schools can be found in this story online.
