Becca Anderson IGCA Third Team All-State shortstop

Greene County sophomore Becca Anderson has reconstructive knee surgery scheduled for today, according to email to Raccoon Valley Radio from her Mother. Anderson was injured on Feb. 2 during the second quarter of the Rams’ only girls’ basketball victory of the season, a home court win in Jefferson vs. Saydel (Des Moines).

Anderson played volleyball, basketball, and ran track & field for Paton-Churdan as a freshman, and softball in a shared program with Greene County. She transferred to Greene County High School when the current school year began, but since residency in her new district wasn’t established, she had to wait 90 school days to compete in the varsity sports P-C fields teams of their own. She played JV volleyball for the Rams, but ran varsity cross-country since that is one of the sports the Rockets and Rams have a sharing program. Anderson played JV basketball at Greene County this season until the 90 day transfer period ended. She then suffered the knee injury in game five on the Greene County varsity, where she quickly became the primary ball handler, and leading scored at 13 points per game.
