Perry Superintendent plans for an interviewing process for the elementary and high school coming up in the next month.

During the Perry School Board meeting last night, Superintendent Clark Wicks detailed that the interview process for an elementary school principal will be conducted on March 19th from 3:30-7pm. He also pointed out that one will follow for the high school on April 4th from 3-6:30pm. Wicks noted that two interviewing teams will be in charge of the interviews and that more information will arrive at a later date.

The board highlighted a couple of upcoming events in response to the outpouring of support received from the community. The Perry Trail is hosting an All-Staff Lunch on March 20th and there will be a healing service for Perry teacher staff at Mount Olive Lutheran Church at 4:15pm on March 24th. Board Director Eddie Diaz announced that he partnered with Perry Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lynsi Pasutti in regards to offering a set amount of money to new teachers to assist with housing in Perry.

All items on the agenda were approved including affirmation of the Iowa Department of Education request to waive federally mandated summative assessments for the Perry Community District, approved the Perry Middle School and Choir trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 17th, approved a resolution authorizing the redemption of general obligation school bonds, and an agreement for teacher education clinical experience placement between Morningside University and Perry Schools.

Additional approved items were new student computers, the 2024-2025 insurance plan and rates through Iowa Schools Employee Benefits Association (ISEBA) and advantage administrators, Unum’s Life Insurance and Avesis Eye Care Insurance, accept the 2024 growing season bid from No Lawn Left Behind, approved budget guarantee resolution for 2024-2025, approve revisions of board policies, approve 2024-2025 AEA Cooperative Purchasing Agreement, approve the school calendar for next year, and the acceptance of a newly hired Kindergarten Teacher (Ella Kane).
