vote-300x298-112

Today is a special election for rural Greene County residents.

Eligible voters that live in the unincorporated areas of the county can head to their respective polling locations today to cast their ballots about two different measures regarding the Local Option Sales and Services Tax (LOSST).

Voters that are in the central precinct must go to Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. The polling place for the east precinct is at St. Brigid’s Parish Center in Grand Junction. The north precinct polling location is at the Churdan Public Library. Those voters in the west precinct are to report to the Scranton Community Center to vote.

The two ballot questions are about eliminating the sunset date on LOSST for the one cent sales tax, as well as changing the revenue purpose statement from “100% property tax relief and any other lawful purpose” to just “any other lawful purpose.” The polls are open from 7am-8pm today.
