Dallas Center – Grimes boys basketball will be playing this morning in the 4A boys state basketball tournament in Des Moines, as the eight seed Mustangs will be taking on the top overall team in Cedar Rapids – Kennedy, in quarterfinal action. DCG will be coming at 20-3 while Cedar Rapids – Kennedy is 23-0.

Dallas Center – Grimes basketball will be making their 3rd appearance in the last four years and their first as a team in 4A. DCG has won one state title in 2022. Cedar Rapids – Kennedy will be making their 18th tournament appearance and have two titles in school history, the last coming in 1984.

The Mustangs will be facings a Cougars team that is elite in multiple statistical categories, including first in points per game in 4A at 77.7 a game, and first in points against at 42.0 a game. Both teams can play with tempo and are good at distributing the basketball, with DCG first in team assists and Kennedy 2nd.

The matchup is the first between the two teams.
