The time will be changing this weekend and the Perry Fire Chief says that this is a good time to check the batteries in smoke detectors.
Daylight Saving Time happens early Sunday morning at 2am, as residents will lose an hour of sleep. Perry Fire Chief Grason Hill tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this is also a good opportunity for people to check batteries in their smoke detectors.
“Everytime you change your clocks, whether it be spring or fall, that is a good time to change your batteries, check them in your smoke detector. You also need to check the dates on your smoke detectors because they’re actually only good for 10 years.”
Hill advises to get into a routine of checking smoke detectors regularly during Daylight Saving Time to ensure all components are working properly.
