Greene County had a partial track and field squad in Ames on Thursday afternoon and evening at the Iowa Association of Track Coaches Indoor State Meet. The event was held inside the Lied Student Recreation Center on the Iowa State Campus. Class 3A and 4A schools competed in the morning into early afternoon, then it was 1A and 2A schools turn, including Greene County in 2A from mid-afternoon into the evening hours.
Coach Chad Morton’s Rams did well, scoring 18 team points and placing twelfth, despite only entering nine of the 14 events.
A second place finish among 24 teams in the distance medley relay led the way for Greene County. The quartet made up of three sophomores and a senior was timed in 3:40.18, below the previous 2A meet record, and just .31 of a second behind Ogden’s winning time of 3:39.87.
