It’s early and it’s indoors, but the Greene County High School boys’ track & field season is off to a good start. Coach Chad Morton’s Rams have been indoors at UNI in Cedar Falls and Iowa State in Ames, with their third and final indoor meet this Saturday at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.

Not every Iowa high school team has competed yet, but the results posted on the website Bound Iowa show the Rams are competitive in several events, regardless of school size. Leading the way for Greene County is the 1,600 meter medley relay with the fourth fastest time statewide through results posted by March 11 at 3:40.18. Of the 64 schools that have run the race at least once, only Waukee at 3:34.64, Ogden 3:39.87, and Humboldt 3:39.98 have recorded faster times than the Rams.  Even more impressive is that 200 meter runner Nathan Behne is the lone senior. Sophomores Broc Stream (200), Nick Madsen (400), and Drew Wolterman (800) make up three-fourths of that quartet.
