One Iowa lawmaker is surprised how much attention a bill has gotten in the legislature.
District 24 Senator Jesse Green (R-Boone) says the bill that was passed through the Senate was in regards to creating better transparency with public school districts about the required vaccinations at the time of registration that a student must have.
“What this bill does is just make sure that the school puts on that form that there is also religious and medical exemptions available within Iowa code. It’s just disclosing what the law actually is.“
Green explains the details of why he took the lead on this bill.
“I was presented so many different situations around the state where schools were just flat out lying to parents that, ‘If they didn’t get these vaccinations that they couldn’t come to school.’ That’s just a flat out lie. Nothing makes me more irritated as a legislator when I see different government entities that just flat out mislead people and lie like that.”
Green adds that this bill didn’t have any organization that was registered against it and that it is now in the House for consideration.
