In the earliest outdoor track & field season opener the Greene County Rams have ever had, the girls and boys teams compete with bigger schools at today’s Simpson College High School Classic at Buxton Stadium in Indianola. Greene County, a Class 2A track & field program, goes against 4A schools Valley (West Des Moines), Norwalk, and Indianola, plus 3A programs Carlisle and Knoxville, along with Harlan Community (boys only).

Sophomore Kaycee Pittman is the only returning State qualifier for the Greene County girls. She was in the 2023 State Meet in the 800 meter run, as well as running a leg on the seventh place 4 x 400 meter relay. Derek Merk is the girls’ head coach for the Rams.

The Greene County boys have some relay runners with State Meet experience, but no individual qualifiers. Chad Morton is the boys’ head coach.
