In the March meeting for the Adair – Casey (AC) / Guthrie Center (GC) School Boards, the AC Board approved the purchase of a new digital sign and a new school bus.

Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says that they decided to purchase the new sign for the AC Elementary and AC/GC Junior High building, as the current one was 10 years old and had stopped working, and that they couldn’t order parts to fix it. He explains that the new eight foot by five foot digital board from Stewart Signs will cost the district $24,192, and tells Raccoon Valley Radio it’ll be nice to have the new sign.

“Yeah, just being able to have a digital sign to communicate with those that drive past and really just to kind of have a spot where the visitors know where to enter to come into our school to be able to communicate. It’ll be a colored sign. So, I think we had a single color down there, I think it was only a red color, but this will be a multicolored sign, so I’m really looking forward to that.”

Rasmussen mentions that the purchase of a new school bus was also approved, with the bid awarded to Bluebird for $129,971. He adds that the addition of the 77-person, gas-powered bus will help to keep the district’s fleet up to date, and that the bus includes seats with safety belts.
