With Easter next weekend, many communities around Guthrie County are preparing to celebrate the holiday.
Bagley Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jeremy Cooper says that they will be hosting their annual Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow at 10am. With candy and prizes to be found throughout the hunt along with the eggs. Guthrie Center, Panora and Stuart will all be holding their Easter Egg Hunts the weekend of Easter, on March 30th.
The Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce’s hunt is sponsored by Rose Acre Farms, and will take place at the Guthrie Center Elementary School playground. From 10-10:50am children will be able to pick buckets featuring a raffle ticket tapped to them, and visit with the Easter Bunny. At 10:55am instructions will be given, and the hunt begins at 11. There are five age groups, including infant to two years old, preschool, kindergarten through 1st grade, 2nd through 6th grade and special needs up to 6th grade.
The Panora Chamber will host their hunt at the Guthrie County Historical Village, to begin at 10am. Children aged 11 and under may participate, and there will be many eggs with goodies hidden for them to find. The Chamber is still accepting donations for items to put in baskets and eggs, including small boxes of crayons, sidewalk chalk, bubbles and much more. Donations will be accepted at Panora Fiber, Iowa Trust and Savings Bank and Guthrie County State Bank until the end of the day March 29th.
Stuart’s Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Lawbaugh Park. There will be three age groups for children to participate in, and prizes for those who find the most eggs. The event is sponsored and held by Rose Acre Farms in Stuart, and the Stuart Chamber of Commerce helps to make sure things stay fair and safe with volunteers to oversee the hunt. Karl’s Chevrolet donated money for bicycles for each age group that will be won by drawing, with a girl’s and boy’s bike for each.
